Summer Delta Lake Elopement in Grand Teton National Park

Lindsey and David traveled all the way from Missouri so that they could have their dream adventure hiking elopement in Grand Teton National Park. These two reached out to me in January knowing exactly where they wanted to go on their elopement day. Lindsey said they saw Delta Lake on TikTok and knew that was the place they wanted to hike to. We planned for August and made it happen. Read more to learn about this epic location and this Summer Delta Lake Elopement in Grand Teton National Park.

Hiking to Delta Lake

The hike to Delta Lake is physically demanding at 8 miles and 2,800 feet of elevation gain. But, it is not technically challenging. So as long as you are in good physical shape, this hike should be doable. We met at the trailhead before dawn to begin the adventure.

First Look at Delta Lake

As of 2025, Grand Teton is not issuing permits for a Delta Lake ceremony because it is not on their maintained trail system. But that doesn’t mean that you still can’t visit it on your elopement day! For their elopement we hiked up before sunrise to do their first look at the lake, where they changed into their wedding attire and saw each other for the first time. It was very emotional and such an adventure on the way to the top.

After their first look, they said a few promises about love and life to each other while admiring the Grand in awe. We took some photos at the lake, and then they changed back into their hiking clothes. We all ate a PB & J and prepared for our descent back to the trailhead.

Once at the trailhead, we took a break for midday before heading to their ceremony later in the afternoon. They opted for a split day coverage- sunrise and sunset. Which is a package that I offer and also encourage for this.

Ceremony in Grand Teton National Park

After we took a break for a midday refresh, we met at a turnout out the base of the mountains (one of my favorite ones in the park that I recommend to a lot of my couples!) It was there that we held their ceremony that was so fun and emotional. High Pines Officiant (my in house officiant and assistant) officiated their ceremony for them surrounded by the mountains and blanketed in the summer sun.

We continued on to celebrate at different areas of the park. Ending the day at the Grand Teton National Park sign- because what’s a trip to a National Park without an obligatory sign photo?! Haha JK. But Lindsey did say that she loves collecting things and souvenirs and really wanted this photo in their gallery and I was so down.
