Cook Forest Elopement | Spring 2024
Can you plan an elopement in 5 months? You absolutely can. Kacie & Gary reached out to me in December about their Cook Forest elopement in hopes to tie the knot in May. We quickly got to planning & the day unfolded to be the most beautiful day ever.
Cook Forest State Park is located in the Northwest part of Pennsylvania and is known for it’s old growth forest and towering trees. It is home to a National Natural Landmark of the Forest Cathedral. With towering white pines and hemlocks, little creeks and streams, mossy forest, boulders and rock formations- Cook Forest State Park is truly a gem of Pennsylvania and a beautiful place to get married if you desire to be surrounded by nature on your special day.
Getting Ready
The day started out at their AirBnB where Kacie & Gary got ready alongside 12 of their closest loved ones. Filled with tons of laughs, some nervous jitters, drizzling rain, and a beautiful trailside private first look. From there we packed up the car and made our way to Cook Forest.
Headed to Ceremony
Once we arrived at the trail, everyone filed out of their cars and made their way to the ceremony spot, a short less 5 minutes flat hike, allowed for all of us to get to the ceremony location with ease. The rain stopped just in time for them to exchange vows in the midst of their loved ones alongside the stream and it was truly so beautiful.
Hiking Celebration
From there everyone split up and went into the forest to do some exploring. The newlywed couple put on their hiking packs and hiked along a favorite trail that we had picked out months before knowing it would be the perfect backdrop for their celebration. Mossy logs, a cool breeze, and the fresh spring air surrounded us on the adventure.
After the hike, we headed back to the AirBnB for a candlelit dinner surrounded by their closest loved ones.
Followed by a blue hour headlamp hiking adventure at Rapp Run which was less than 5 minutes away from their AirBnB, and was the perfect way to end the most wonderful day.
